Herman Upmann was a German banker whose love for Havana cigars led him to settle in Havana in 1844 and establish a bank and a Havana cigar factory in the city.
Over time, the bank closed, but his cigar brand continues to this day as an example of the most exquisite medium-strength flavored Havana cigars. The H.Upmann blend is light to medium in strength and is made from leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region in the Pinar del Rio region. All of its vitolas are made with "Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga" - completely handmade with Long Filler.
Throughout the nineteenth century, the gold medal on the H. Upmann box was awarded at no fewer than eleven international fairs as a reward for the brand's quality and unparalleled aroma.
