Punch is one of the oldest brands in Havana. Don Manuel López de Juan Valle and Cia founded the brand in the mid-19th century with the idea of attacking the growing English-speaking market, at a time when humorous publications of the same name were popular.
Mr. Punch is a symbol of the publication and he continues to appear in every box of the brand, holding his Havana cigar and surrounded by images of 19th century Havana cigar making that are similar to those seen in Cuban factories today. The resulting images are almost identical.

In 1931, Punch moved to the factory where Hoyo de Monterrey was produced; a long-standing connection that continues to this day. In fact, both brands are produced in the La Corona factory.
Punch's signature flavor and medium strength is made from a blend of fillers and wrapper leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region, with a range of "entirely handcrafted long fillers."
